Austin is building at every scale at once, and the drywall changes completely between them. Downtown and the newer east-side infill is modern architecture — flat walls, big glass, long uninterrupted planes — which is exactly the condition that exposes a finish and the reason level 5 gets specified here more than anywhere else in the metro.
Then there is the older stock. A 1940s bungalow in Hyde Park or Travis Heights was never square, and hanging in one is a layout problem before it is a finishing problem.

Modern interiors here are lit deliberately — coves, spots close to the wall, glass down one whole side — and every one of those is a light that runs along a surface instead of at it. That is the hardest test a seam ever gets, and it is why we ask where the fixtures and the windows are before quoting a finish level rather than after.
The remodel and short-term rental market adds the other constraint: a room being turned has a date, and coats have to dry between them whatever the calendar says.
